interweaving of urban and rural environments, town and regional planning (especially upgrading, low-cost housing, resettlement), refugee and migration research, integration research, social dimensions of global environmental change, political ecology, conflict mediation in land use, methods of participatory research, planning and implementation / teamwork and team management in planning processes
