Discourse, research and practice in higher education have so far concentrated either on the topic of gender or on the topic of internationalisation. A combination of both aspects is rare. The international conference

 

GENDER MATTERS

Visions from Africa for the Internationalisation of Higher Education

 

4 to 6 November 2015

aims to look at the interplay of gender and internationalisation as two increasingly interlinked matters within the context of higher education.
The highly diverse academic environment of BIGSAS and the close collaboration in the BIGSAS network of the seven Partner Universities will provide the great opportunity to share best-practice models. Senior and Junior researchers, experts on gender-mainstreaming, decision-makers in higher education and delegates of the policy-making level will discuss their visions for a truly gender balanced and international academia in the future - a future in which gender really matters.
