Current Project:
The intersectional approach in the Congolese fictional universe. The case of the Lingala novel
Brief Description of current project:
Congolese literature is primarily expressed in French and the four national languages of Congo: Ciluba, Kikongo, Swahili, and Lingala. While Congolese literature in French has been the subject of significant study, both nationally and internationally, the same cannot be said for literature written in Congolese languages, which remains largely unknown to both national and international audiences. To contribute to the understanding and promotion of literature written in Congolese languages, this research analyzes the intersectionality issue in the Lingala novel. The intersectional approach is considered the most important contribution of feminist studies to date. Its distinctive feature lies in its consideration of the interaction between gender and other categories of discrimination such as race, social class, skin color, nationality, religion, generation, sexuality, disability, mental health, and sexual orientation, which must be studied not in isolation, but in their reciprocal relationships.
